Welcome to the Milky Way connection

Seven and a half years ago we were brand new to living in a small high desert town of 5,000 in the middle of nowhere and now, after four years of running a successful tourism based business in small town Kanab, UT, we feel like we know some things that could be valuable for avid adventurers, prospective residents, passer throughs, or future guests of ours!

Our Past Lives

We used to be city dwellers in Texas - San Antonio and Austin - and my husband and I decided to change the course of our lives and go full-timing in an RV. Six months after that idea was born, we had purchased an F250 and a 37' fifth wheel, rented our home out for a year, and set off on the open road with our one and three year old.

It was a shit show at first, but we ended up falling in love with the lifestyle and traveled the US, Canada and Mexico for 1.5 years before discovering Kanab with my parents on a 60th birthday RV trip for my Dad. It was very special to discover Kanab together and we all felt drawn to this cute little town. After meeting several people that had just relocated from Austin, TX we felt like it was the universe telling us something. My dad enlisted the help of a local realtor, who had just moved from Austin!!!!!!, and we explored purchasing land. Fast forward a handful of months and we had sold our homes and 90% of our belongings, bought 40 acres three miles east of downtown Kanab, and made this our new home.

Dark Sky is Born

We built a boutique RV campground called Dark Sky on those 40 acres which is where we all live today! The park is inspired by all our global travels and experiencing life on the road and staying in RV, State and National Parks. We opened August 2020 and have been featured on the Today Show, named America's Best RV Parks by hgtv.com, and one of the 20 Best RV Parks Across America by BuzzFeed.

Frieken' amazing.

What's Ahead!

We absolutely love what we do, we love creating beautiful experiences for people, and we LOVE when people have a great time in this little town in the middle of nowhere that welcomed us with open arms.

We thought that with this blog of ours, we could share the things that we have found to be the best parts of Kanab for us plus helpful campground related content for travelers to the area.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and well-written piece about your journey—it’s always inspiring to read about the beginnings behind something meaningful. The way you explained the story was very clear and engaging, making it easy to connect with your experience. I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog, and it offered an interesting perspective as well, particularly in how different paths shape long-term success. While exploring related topics, I also noticed conversations around buy high school diploma being discussed in terms of credibility and decision-making, which added another layer of insight. Overall, this was a really enjoyable and informative read—looking forward to more of your posts!

This was a genuinely meaningful read. I liked how you shared the journey and beginnings in such an honest and grounded way—it really helps readers connect with the story behind the RV lifestyle. There’s something very real and inspiring about seeing how things started rather than just where they are now. I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog, and it offered an interesting perspective as well. I also saw a mention of https://the915lawyer.com/ while browsing another topic, which stood out as part of the wider range of content people explore online. Very engaging post.

I really enjoyed how you connected past experiences to the present mission—it felt very authentic. I came across a similar narrative style on another blog that discussed foundational stories, and it gave me a new appreciation for storytelling. Posts like yours, with attention to detail similar to what I’ve seen shared by https://www.sherwaytrilliumdental.ca/, really help readers connect on a deeper level.
